A. Coolfinder uses index files for fast searching.
Coolfinder creates and uses an "index file" to quickly find search results from documents on your PC.
Each "index file" stores information such as document names, paths, sizes, and content, allowing rapid searches by referencing the index.
Specify the paths to index, then enter your search term to quickly search for keywords within the indexed documents.
A. Indexing is for preparing searches, while filters are for refining search results.
Indexing stores document information in the index file to make content searchable. Documents not registered in the index cannot be searched internally.
Filters, on the other hand, allow you to narrow down search results.
Using filters, you can view only documents of specific file types, created within certain dates, or of certain sizes from numerous search results.
A. Coolfinder parses documents using its unique technology.
Coolfinder extracts text from all types of documents and stores it in the index file.
This stored text data enables fast keyword searches.
It supports various file formats and allows searching information inside documents, making it a unique solution worldwide.
A. Supports MS Office and Hancom document formats.
You can search keywords within documents such as hwp, doc, xls, ppt, as well as text files like txt, py, java, and sql.
Additionally, for image (png...), audio (mp3...), and video (mp4...) files, searches can be done by file name.
A. It depends on the PDF format.
Image-based search is not currently supported.
If a PDF consists of images, searching is not available. However, for standard PDFs, keyword search within the document is supported.
A. Yes, indexing runs automatically.
Pending index files will be processed automatically by Coolfinder without starting manually.
If you add a folder to the index target path, documents in subfolders will also be indexed automatically.
A. Add all folders where your documents might be stored as index targets.
For example, it is recommended to designate frequently used paths such as 'Documents', 'Downloads', and 'Desktop'.
For corporate use, you can also set network drive paths designated by your company as index targets.
A. It depends on the encryption method.
For secure documents with passwords, internal content is fully encrypted, so keyword searches cannot be performed.
However, read-only documents or files protected only by access restriction can still be searched for keywords inside.
A. Yes, it can.
First, register the folder path of the external documents as an index target.
You can then search for the information you want to verify and check if it exists in all files within the folder.
Note that information inside images or encrypted files cannot be searched.
